Newsana’s top new member is Karim Kanji
Karim is a digital strategist who understands how to connect people and brands across various social platforms and “in real life”. Currently, Karim is helping to lead the digital content team at Catalyst Canada.
In recent years, Karim helped to create and lead thirdocean; where he worked with companies to utilize digital and social tools to strengthen specific business needs. In his role, Karim developed thirdocean relationships with brands such as Scotiabank, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Bnotions, Microsoft, Wild Water Kingdom and Palomino Systems inc.
As part of the internal research and development team of thridocean, Karim had the privilege of interviewing prominent figures including Canadian serial angel investor Dr. Boris Wertz, HootSuite founder Ryan Holmes and Dan Martell of Clarity. He has also led the development and execution of reports discussing how technology and digital media have impacted the retail, education, health, banking and entertainment industry.
Prior to the launch of thirdocean, Karim helped lead social media engagement campaigns for Henry’s Camera, was the Toronto Community Manager for Techvibes and founder and host of Social Media Show on Perpetual Radio Networks.
In his spare time, Karim loves to travel, camp and take his son to a number of organized sports and activities. The last book Karim read was Rob Delaney’s, “Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage”. Currently, he’s reading, “Hatching Twitter: A True Story of Money, Power, Friendship and Betrayal”. His favourite podcasts are WTF, Wiretap, This American Life, The Drunk Jays Fans Podcast and How Stuff Works.
